Holding a Diploma in International trade and Human Resources, Nallah Sangaré also has an extensive professional experience in makeup counseling: a career path that can seem unusual at first sight. Hell no! She landed the only makeup trainer position of the famous brand’s branch based in Lagos, Nigeria. A cut to fit opportunity!

Why have you decided to work for this brand?
Having held the position of Assistant Manager for several years in the brand’s largest store situated in Champs-Elysées, I felt it was time to take on new challenges within a firm that gave me the opportunity to do.
I seized the opportunity during my annual review session to share my new development plans with my training director. It was during the session he told me of the brand’s development which Africa a part was of. It was indeed my lucky day!.

An opportunity to seize: having the opportunity to give back on my native continent.

Why did the brand Mac Cosmetics decide to set up shop in Sub-Saharan Africa?
To my thinking, due to an increasing demand from tourists with flagrant potential coming from this geographic area; thus, the need to establish the brand in sub-Saharan Africa became necessary.

I think the brand decided to set up shop in the strategic countries of the Sub-Saharan area such as Nigeria, Kenya or Ivory Coast, for example. And also a way to control counterfeiting and illegal sales that are detrimental for the brand’s image.

How does the brand differentiate itself on the continent?
Thanks to its international renown and to its strong event communication strategy as for example covering the best events such as Fashion Weeks. We also work with local PR agencies.

What does the active African woman search nowadays in terms of beauty?
Dynamic, well-travelled and continuously on the lookout for improvements. The active African woman is searching products that correspond to its needs and to its environment, but she also wishes for the products to be available on both American and African continent.

An opportunity to seize: having the opportunity to give back on my native continent.
